Shabbat Club
Fortnightly on a Shabbat afternoon between 2:30pm to 4:30pm the
Synagogue runs a Shabbat afternoon club which is run by Yaniv Halperin, Riki
Halperin, Gila Rome and overseen by parents of the club members. The Club has a
fully trained Security guard from the CST every week with help from adults to
ensure the security of everyone. This club in entirely free for anyone aged 6-18
years old.
The Synagogue has put great effort to ensure that this club succeeds and all the
children and youth in the committee have something to do on a Shabbat afternoon.
There is a huge selection of board games starting from Snakes and Ladders to
Rummikub with other games such as a Football Table, Table Tennis and Pool Table.
The children and youth are allowed to play their own games that they might have
brought into the Synagogue before Shabbat or they can play their own playground
games such as Stuck in the Mud. All of this keeps them busy and always happy.
The members of the Youth Service come along to help and to join in with the
children in the games they would like to play and to make sure that they never
get bored and are always safe.
The Synagogue supplies the club with soft drinks, crisps, cake, biscuits, Haribo,
chocolate, sweets and loads of other nosh such as ice cream and ice pops.
Regularly there is a very healthy attendance depending on the weather, ranging
from about 20 to 45 children that attend different Synagogues within the area.
Ilford United Synagogue is very proud of this Club because of its success over
the past years.
